Well, his death just jolt me from my muddled and almost boring life into the world of dance. I searched through youtube about him again, i watched his concerts again and again. I listen to his songs on my phone all the time. Then i realized that there was a name for the style that he dances and it was called popping. I started with moonwalk, gliding and the typical MJ moves. When i was into it for about one month or so, i was already searching youtube for videos like "popping tutorial" or "how to pop". I also spent MUCH of my time watching videos of professionals like salah, popping hyun joon, and of course more of MJ. I even learnt the choreography of Beat It and copied the moves during a billie jean performance(though even now, im not really good at it).
So, this post is all about inspirations. I think that all dancers have their own inspirations, like dancers whom they admire and look up to. I personally think that it is quite important to have an inspiration in dance, because that would be the style that the dancer would start to develop in before developing their own styles. There can be more than one inspiration, afterall, there's enough for everyone in the world! Also, being exposed to different styles of different dance professionals will also let the dancer realize that the styles can be varied and there is an unlimited way of expressing dance.
i'll end of with this song from step up 3!! it makes me feel like dancing when i listen to it!=)enjoy!
